  • Can we begin to change rune information to the new versions and such or should we wait?

      Loading editor
    • Never mind, I guess your bot is going to do that.

        Loading editor
    • This is correct. I'm just holding off a little to see what people think of the new formatting.

    • Will the bot replace all information in the stats section of Runes, including abilties and such, or will it simply replace the actual "Stat" number, such as Attack, Nora Cost, etc?

        Loading editor
    • It will replace the entire Stat section (and anything above it) with the new stats module, as reported by DOG.

However, anything in Comments will be saved exactly as is. So any comments/categories for the rune can be placed there.

  • Hi there!

Hey, I have noticed there is a lot (and I mean a real LOT) of pages that have under 'artist' a 'category: artist' link, rather than the name directing at the pages. Obviously, said page doesn't exists, and I have spend some time changing it. Then I remembered the whole 'glossary of abilities' page, so I came here.

What is the official stance on this?

It would be better to create a 'category' page and drop the individual pages I have been working, or a bot could be run to change all those Jakub Kasper to merely Jakub Kasper

    • I'm not sure there is an official stance on this in particular. The reason for categories is that they would list all the runes by a particular author. However, this makes less sense in this case -- we can change that. Post it on User:Xibot's wall so I have the suggestions all in one place.

In general these sorts of things are flexible, so I can implement suggestions you have. However since any changes you make to Stats will get overwritten when the page is updated, I would have to change how the bot writes up pages. (This includes converting specific words to links.)

In other cases, there is usually a workaround -- for example, if you have a separate page already created for a category, you can transclude it in to the category. For example, see Category:Loss of Life which transcludes the page Loss of Life and click Source Mode.

    • This appears to be an issue with spells, relics, and equipment. I changed it so these runes will no longer have this issue when updated, but I haven't updated the pages yet.

  • I notice champions with double classes count them like in http://poxnora.wikia.com/wiki/Tomb_Lord, were instead of classes wizard and priest it has class wizard_priest

    • To update this, I was thinking we could search for the most common double classes and then update all the "pages that link here". and then marking the particular ones to update.

Do you think we could implement a "marked for update" category or something like that?

I think the trasclude is a good option. I know how to do it.

    • I realized the bot script knows how many classes a champion has, and so it was fairly easy to just modify the bot script to list all the champions it thinks has more than one class. I am updating them now.

I don't know of any solution that the bot can read automatically, but if I visited the category, I could copy the names of those pages and paste them into the program.

  • I may automate double faction champions soon, as well as updating abilities.

  • Don't you think it would be nice if races and classes of the runes were added as categories? in fact, I think that even the abilities would be more helpful in the form of categories.

With multi category search it would be possible to search, for example, all champions in sundered lands with attack:fire.

      Loading editor
    • This can happen. However, you can do this already with poxbase, if it's an ability. (Further, I'd rather not categorize all pages that have a specific ability like Attack: Fire)

What might be more useful is searching for one of the many categories you set up which aren't ability specific, like healing in a faction.

I may not have much time to do this right now since I'm working on other projects, but I'll plan to do it soon.

  • I think it's time to run the bot again, we had a new champion released, and some abilities were tweaked and added.

    • One example of champion not updated is the brewmaster, and is strange as wild elf is updated and the changes are from the same patch.

        Loading editor
    • That is strange -- maybe the script is trying to update some other champion. I updated the champion manually to make sure it's up to date.

  • Hey, I was thinking if it could be possible to change one of the squares in the main wiki page to something to include the abilities organized by categories, or a more broad "help with deckbuilding" were we can include the ability category index, example decks and maybe some guide to basic deckbuilding. maybe the "new user info" could be merged with "how can you help" to gain some room.

Also, could you share the tool you use to tabulate the decks?

      Loading editor
    • Sure, I can share the source code but you'll need a Python interpreter to run it. (These are free to download, but it's a big download.) Also, you'll have to enter the deck as a text file, broken down by type.

You can either put a link in the Browse Runes page at http://poxnora.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Runes or make Browse Runes on the front page link to whatever page you have listing the categories and just link to the Runes category from there.

  • Hi, XiapeX!

Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on the game guide app for this site. As such, I'm going to be tweaking categories here and there so things show up proper on a mobile device :) Any questions, just send me a shout.

    Best regards,

    Raylan

Edit: Don't panic, but I'm moving content on the category pages I run across to their own pages. Ideally that's the way things should be for search purposes as well as functioning properly for the app.
