Dire covenant is the 12th expansion for Pox Nora. Was launched on 11 of november, 2009, and was the last expansion before the big revamp.

Notable historyAugment

"Dire Covenant, the 12th expansion from multiplayer turn-based strategy game, PoxNora, launches today! A new campaign introduces four encounters which take players into the mystery behind the cataclysmic events that occur after a disastrous earthquake drives fear into the heart of every faction."

After the expansion Rise of Serkan, Dire Covenant introduced a complete new level of powercreep, which completely shattered the meta at the time with champions whose attributes were significantly higher than the average champion from previous expansion. A large set of patches followed into the next weeks to adjust the champions into manageable levels, but expansions released after Dire Covenant keep this trend, which eventually would lead to another revamp aimed at lowering the overall power level.

Features and comments.Augment

  • The 'Channel' abilities were named as part of the new features for this expansion on the press release. These abilities were previewed and, disregarding opinions on forums, launched without some sort of limit. Within hours, players assembled battlegroups whose entire point was to generate as much nora as possible, and abuse the ability Channel: Speed to be able to generate enough AP to reach and destroy in a single turn the opposite shrine. The channel abilities had to be nerfed next day.
  • The interactive World Map was launched this day. Eventually, players would discover the Maljara continent, hinting at the next expansion.
