Note that Assassinate does not miss, which means Block and Dodge do not affect it. (Elusive shouldn't affect it, but actually might for some reason.)
Also note since Assassinate is a Nonbasic attack which does more damage and doesn't miss, it can be deflected just like any other attack.
History[]
Having assassinate not miss is likely carried over from when random factor was in the game, when each attack had some chance of missing. Thus, an attack from assassinate would be sure to deal damage, as long as no damage reduction effects occur.
